The Future?

As we count down to the new year, I'm considering the future of The Bonneville Run. While the Cadillac will be coming to Australia shortly, and Kate and I have a baby girl, Mikah, who will have a part in any future planning, this doesn't rule out the possibility of another trip entirely.



I'd love to run another big road trip, similar to The Bonneville Run, but with a young child thrown into the mix, an older car is not such a good proposition for a challenging road trip through the American summer. Ideally, I'd love to take a large Australian car over to see how it fares against the heat and the altitude changes we saw on the last run. Obviously something like this is well out of our budget at the moment, so without some sort of corporate support for such an endeavour, it's not going to stay a pipe dream.



Looking further into the future, I have no doubt that we will put together another trip, and if it doesn't happen right away, then when Mikah is older, we'll try to put together a similar trip to the one we ran this year, probably with another classic American auto. I've also had aspirations to restore and modify the Cadillac before shipping it back to America for another trip. Perhaps if we can't get back for several years, this will be the route we take.
